2.6.25 released – Support for Marvell Orion SoC`s now in the vanilla kernel

mindbender | April 18, 2008

Version 2.6.25 was released on the 16th April 2008. This means that the Marvell`s Feroceon micro-architecture and Orion-SoC`s are now officially supported by the mainline kernel.

This does not mean that many NAS devices are now automatically supported, but it means that the hard work was already done for most of them. If you own a NAS based on the Orion SoC and you want to add support for it in the vanilla kernel then start by reading the Orion_NAS_customisation_guide. As long as your box does not have any special totally unsupported feature then it should be possible to add support with little effort.
